This valve is used in FM radio receivers. It combines the functions of FM limiter, FM detection, and AF amplification.

It contains seven grids. Grids 2, 4, 6 are screens, and grid 7 is the suppressor.

An FM signal is fed to grids 3 and 5. Detection is similar to the Foster-Seely detector circuit.

Grid 1 is the AF input, the signal being generated by using an unbypassed cathode resistor.
