This valve has planar electrodes separated by tens of microns. This reduces the transit path of electrons between cathode and anode. Thus this valve can be used at frequencies up to 3GHz, usually in a cathode driven (Grounded grid) configuration.
As it has a high transconductance, noise is reduced compared with other UHF valves.
It has a useful life around 1000 hours, because of a very thin layer of oxide on the cathode.
