A special triode used to measure gas pressure. Electrons emitted by a heated cathode are accelerated to a POSITIVE grid and ionise gas molecules by collision. A third electrode, NEGATIVELY biassed, collects the ions.
The current is proportional to the gas pressure. Used to measure only very low pressures.
