This mercury-in-glass thermometer tube was made by the owner of Technitherm in Mapleton, Q. to demonstrate the process to Dr Heckenberg. Since small variations in the volume of the bulb could not be eliminated, and these have a strong effect on the calibration, each tube was individually fitted to one of a range of scales printed with slightly different lengths.
