This B battery was designed to output 45 Volts at 10 to 15 milliAmps. It contains thirty flat carbon-zinc cells in series. The battery was used to power portable valve radios from about 1925 to 1955. Most radios required two of these in series, giving 90 Volts, to apply to the anodes and screens of the receiver valves. The battery was small enough to allow the radio set to be portable, although still heavy.
