This is a PN Silicon half-wave power rectifier.

It was designed to be pressed into a heatsink, with the case splines ensuring a good contact.

Six of these diodes are used in a three-phase vehicle alternator to produce DC to charge the vehicle battery.

A tab has been soldered to the case. This is possible if the soldering time is 10 seconds maximum.
